The TSA B team got off to a flying start on Friday playing against JSA beating them 21 – 1.
Saturday was a tough schedule with the TSA B team playing 4 consecutive games starting at 10:00 followed by game 2 at 12:00, game 3 at 14:00 and final game at 16:00.
Game 2 was against ESU A and with a new starting line up the girls won 11-0
Game 3 against ESU B ended in a 15-4 win for the TSA B team, conditions were tough with a very short distance behind the plate and back stop. The game against ESU B was tougher than what the score suggests.
Game 4, the big one! The girls started batting and both sides played hard and scores were 0-0 for 2 innings before TSA B had a great hit and scored valuable runs. TSA A hit back with catcher Tilla Nel putting in a big hit to left field ending up on 3rd base, two batters later Tilla finally managed to score a run. TSA B ended up winning the game 3-2. Pitcher of TSA B Hanna Hugo striked out 16 batters!
4 Games 4 wins for the TSA B team leading into the final game against KZN. TSA B team were in the lead 4-1 bottom of the 4th innings when rain stopped play. Umpires decided no further play for the day and awarded each team 1 point.
At the end of the round robin stage TSA ended in 1st place with 9 points, TSA A 2nd with 8 points.
Tournament followed page system with 1 v 2 and 3 v4 with winner of game 1 going through to the final and loser of game 1 playing against winner of game 2 for place in final.
TSA B team put in a Big effort winning 9-0 against TSA A booking a place in the final.
TSA A had to play against winners of 3 v 4 ESU A v ESU B.
ESU B pulled of a good win over the A team, this young team proved that young players can compete at this level, the catcher was only 13 years old.
The ESU B v TSA A team nearly produced a major upset with ESU B leading 5-3 in the last innings. TSA A managed to score 2 runs through a great line drive to 3rd tied the game at 5-5, they managed to score 2 extra runs to finally win 7-5. Well done to ESU B team for ending in 3rd place.
TSA B won the toss an decided to field first and followed up the previous victory against the TSA A team with a 6-3 win!
Well done to the team whose average age was 17, oldest players 20 and youngest 14.
